Title: Searching for the multimodal knots
The position of Balkans is very important for the European transportation. Two the biggest Balkan harbors and airports, Athens and Thessalonica, are situated in Greece , therefore this country is one of the most important Balkan countries in view of transportation.
In this workshop we shall analyze the number of passengers and quantity of freight (in tones) on harbors, airports, train- and bus-stations annually in Athens and Thessalonica, and traffic frequency on the motorway between this two cities. Comparing their load and capacity we shall be researching the necessity and possibility for forming another multimodal knot, and fortify their hierarchy, this is the main aim of workshop.
First of all we shall be discussing about similar situations in order European countries, theirs multimodal knots and corridors.
