The number of students being registered at the University has been steadily increasing over the years. Nowadays, the student community is approximately of 8,000 students.

The students in the insular University Units benefit from the small communities of the islands, while they enjoy the "student mobility" offered by the co-operation of the University of the Aegean with European Exchange Programmes, such as the ERASMUS/SOCRATES, the AIESEC programmes and the "Youth for Europe" programmes, which are promoted by the student associations.
