Announcing the 3rd International Summer School on Big Data Analysis in Earth Sciences



In order to promote education and knowledge dissemination in the area of Big Data Analysis and Simulation of Environmental Systems, the International Summer School on Big Data Analysis in Earth Sciences will be held in Rhodes, Greece, from 28th August to 1nd of September 2017. The Summer School is being organized by the Analysis and Simulation of Environmental Systems Research Group (ASES) of the Department of Environment, University of the Aegean, in Collaboration with the Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering and the Global Network for Environmental Science and Technology (GNEST).

The lectures, workshops and round tables, that are included in the program, are related to big data systems, flexible and dynamic structures which can meet future requirements, sensors and softwares, statistical methods and to their implementation for the analysis and simulation of environmental systems.

The topics covered by the Summer School are:

·         Understanding the specific characteristics of Big Data

·         Database Systems

·         Machine learning and AI

·         Data and Web Mining

·         Mathematical models for data mining

·         Data management and analysis

·         New technologies and software

·         Application of all the above in simulation examples of different environmental systems

The summer school is open to postgraduate students, researchers and professionals, from the fields of Natural Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science and Information and Communication Technology. Successful candidates must show a promising academic or business track in the scientific areas of the Summer School.
