Guidelines for initiating agreements with the University of the Aegean

The following guidelines are intended to facilitate the creation of International Agreements between the University of the Aegean and academic institutions or partners that tend to fall in three broad categories:

Memoranda of Understanding or Cooperation (MoU or MoC)

between Universities

Template Αppendix to the Institutional MoU

Collaborations between Faculties or Departments

(subsequent agreements of a specific nature, in compliance with an already existing MoU)

Bilateral Agreements between Faculties or Departments

(independent collaborations, not within the framework of a specific program)

To encourage such collaborations the following guidelines should be observed:

International partnerships often originate through informal contacts by the university faculty and staff.

The University of the Aegean provides Templates (issued in English) for every kind of agreement. In the instance that the International partner wishes to use a different template, the proposed text will undergo an evaluation by the International Relations Office, of the University of the Aegean

All proposed Memoranda of Cooperation and further Agreements should be routed by the proposers for review to the International Relations Office of the University of the Aegean

On behalf of the University of the Aegean, the proposer brings the proposed agreement to the Senate,

along with a report highlighting the contribution of the collaboration. The Senate either approves of the agreement or requests of additional information from the proposers. An Agreement is finalized when the Rectors/responsible Vice-Rectors/Deans/Heads of Department (depending on who has the signature authority for the specific type of agreement) sign two originals of the Agreement. Each institution will retain one signed original for their record. This procedure is monitored by the International Relations office.

Each agreement’s materialisation shall be monitored by the Coordinators.
